3D mapping on Friedensplatz – A visual journey through the city‘s history and future
As part of the city festival, a ten-minute projection mapping show will be presented on Friedensplatz on May 2 and 3, 2025, after dark
(between approximately 9 and 10 p.m.). Eight high-performance projectors will first project a realistic image of the old town hall onto its
façade before it is transformed into a living canvas for an impressive visual narrative.
The production takes the audience on a thrilling visual journey through the city‘s past, present, and future. It is narrated by Tirzah Haase
– actress and well-known voice of the city railway announcements. In a dynamic sequence, urban motifs such as the new cityscape,
iconic personalities, historical turning points, and popular meeting places rush past the viewer – similar to a rapid roller coaster ride
through collective memory.
Another component of the project is an interactive telephone booth on Friedensplatz, which will remain in place during the city festival.
Visitors can use it to feed in personal wishes, thoughts, or ideas. These contributions serve as a creative source for future facade mappings—
a format that not only visualizes city history but is also continued in a participatory manner.
